Our family started a new journey this Fall. We are walking through a curriculum called Foundations written by our pastor, Brad Bell. This experience brings us deeper into understanding of key principles in the Bible, but also invites us to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. My favorite part is that we are discussing what we learn every Sunday night with our life group, including 8 adults and 10 kids! It’s a special treat to see how our tweens and teens are engaging with questions about the faith.
We also just launched a new Bible study group for women at the church campus where our family attends. I’ve always loved Bible study and especially going deeper with women around a table. When my friend Melissa asked me to help her launch this new group and coach our leaders, I was eager to jump in.
This week I had the privilege of teaching at our women’s study on the theme, “Sharing Your Story.” I got to illuminate the stories of three women in the Bible and how Jesus transformed their lives and then sent them out to tell their stories. I share my own story of transformation too.
After my teaching, the women shared their own 3-minute stories of transformation around the tables. There were tears and laughter. They each unfolded ways that God has been faithful through life’s toughest trials and everyday challenges. I’m still in awe of what God has done in these women’s lives.
Friend, do you have a story of transformation? Have you every tried to share it?
The Apostle Paul wrote this: “At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison — that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak” (Colossians 4:3-4, ESV).
I’m praying for you and for me – that God will open more opportunities for us to share our stories.
