Walk Run Soar is a podcast about the intersection of faith and running. We help runners and walkers who lack purpose with their exercise routine (or lack of routine) and long to experience God in a more meaningful way while they walk or run. We are here to run with you, to pace you, and to inspire you with weekly devotionals, scripture, interviews with Christian runners and walkers, and quick coaching tips. Shawn is a marathon and triathlete coach, as well as a 6-time Ironman. Dorina is an avid mommy runner, Track & Field Coach, and published author.
In this episode, we interview CJ and Chelsey Albertson. CJ grew up in Fresno and participated in Track and Cross Country and then went on to race at Arizona State. He is currently teaching at Clovis Community College and coaches both Cross Country and Track there as well. He’s a professional runner for Brooks sports, and recently competed at the U.S. Olympic marathon trials where he finished seventh in two hours, 11 minutes and 49 seconds.
His wife, Chelsey grew up in Santa Clarita, California and attended Golden Valley High School, and also went on to compete at Arizona state. She ran a 15:53 5k while competing at Arizona State and qualified last year for the US Olympic marathon trials as well. She recently completed her RN degree and began working at Valley Children’s Hospital here in Fresno in the respiratory unit.
We chat about:
-how these two started running
-what it’s like to grow up in a running family
-what it’s like to be married and compete as athletes in college
-CJ’s secret training plans
-Chelsey’s new job
-how faith has shaped both of their running
