🍂🍃I ran 12 miles this morning under a glorious Autumn sky. Today I’m thanking God for clear air, cotton candy clouds waltzing across the sky, and conversation that comes easy with trusted friends.

🍁 In two weeks, our Remember Haiti team will run the Two Cities Half marathon. This year we are partnering with @Haitigo raising money to build a widows home in Savanette, Haiti. So far we’ve raised $10,000+ toward our $15,000 goal.
.
🏡 When I think about my widow friends getting to live in a beautiful home together with a place to cook and connect, my heart swells. It’s worth the early Saturday morning workouts, the sore knees, and the miles squeezed in between soccer and cross country meets. ⚽️
.

Walking Through His Word. . “For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth.”
‭‭-Psalms‬ ‭57:10-11‬
.
Let the words of this psalm wash over you today! No matter what trial you are facing, no matter how weary and broken you feel, no matter what the headlines say, God’s glory shines over it all.
.
David wrote this psalm when he was hiding in caves and running for his life. He was reminding himself and us today that God is faithful and His glory covers over it all.
.
Let’s cling to that truth together on this Friday, friends! 🍂🍃🍁

🏃🏽‍♀️ Studies show that exercise not only has physical health benefits, but mental and psychological benefits too. Running, walking, and hiking actually affects our brains; God designed exercise as a pathway to healing.

In John 5, Jesus goes to Jerusalem to a pool called Bethesda, which means “house of mercy.” This pool was one of the deep stone reservoirs that collected rainwater to be used as drinking water. This was a gathering place for the sick and physically disabled.
.
Jesus notices a man there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. He asks him, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6). The man does not recognize Jesus and doesn’t understand this key question. The man says he has no one to help him get into the pool where many were healed. It’s no accident that Jesus has mercy on him at the “house of mercy.”
.
“Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’
.
At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked” (John 5:8–9). Jesus proves himself as the Healer—not the pool at Bethesda, which people believed had healing properties in itself.
.
Why do you think Jesus asked the sick man that poignant question: “Do you want to get well?” If Jesus asked you that question, how would you respond?
.

🍃🍁🍂What restores your soul?
.
Some of us are energized by time alone, time in nature, travel, food, prayer, reading the Bible, journaling, fellowship with others, sleep, and even gardening.
.
This Sunday I went on a long training run with my brother-in-law in Olympia, Washington. The air was cool. Misty rain kissed our faces. Fall colors lit our course through the city and along the water. Ruby reds meeting golden yellows and chocolate brown leaves.
.
This time brought me back to reflecting on what truly restores my soul. For me, God uses running, time in creation, prayer, and deep conversation with others to bring me close to Him and restore me. I’m grateful for the a weekend away to recharge and reconnect with my people! This is how I counter the decision fatigue and the bone-weariness of 2021.
