Book Review: Grace Like Scarlett: Grieving with Hope After Miscarriage and Loss

The texts were pecked out late into the night. I could read the desperation and grief between the short lines she wrote. My dear friend had endured another miscarriage. Her body had betrayed her again. I cried out to God on her behalf. Honestly, I didnโ€™t know exactly how or what to pray, but I wanted to support. I learned to listen and groan [...] Keep Reading

Book review: Rooted

A few months ago, I took my kids on a day trip to Sequoia National Park with friends. The park is full of sequoia redwood trees, which are some of the largest trees in the world. With their ruddy, giant trunks and branches extending toward Heaven, these trees are truly majestic. I learned the General Sherman tree is the largest known single stem [...] Keep Reading

Book Review: Breaking the Fear Cycle

A few weeks ago my middle daughter got sick. Itโ€™s winter and flu season so that was probably not surprising. Her fever raged on for a few days. I was slated to leave for a two-day conference that Thursday. My prayer was that she would rally and get better before I left. Iโ€™m sure every mama hates to see her child sick, but this scenario holds [...] Keep Reading

Book review: Wonderstruck

The cool January breeze swirled as we strolled down to Elephant Seal Beach. ย The Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery extends for 6 miles along the Central Coast of California. A crowd was already gathered along the wooden fence facing the ocean. This time it was not the crashing waves or the angled afternoon light in sherbet colors that [...] Keep Reading

10 Inspiring Books I Read in 2017

At the start of 2017, one of the goals I set out for myself was to read. Donโ€™t get me wrong: I read all the time, but my goal was to intentionally read books. This goal was about quality reading not quantity. I found in this fast-paced, social media-driven world that I was too-often reading lines and posts and headlines, but seldom reading [...] Keep Reading

Book Review: Daring to Hope

I still remember reading Katieโ€™s Davisโ€™ first book Kisses From Katie. I was sitting under a mosquito net in the stifling heat of a Haiti summer. My husband and I were operating a non-profit at the time. We had three daughters chasing each other through the mission house and a host of Haitian children playing in the yard. Reading about Katieโ€™s life [...] Keep Reading

Today we are walking through Psalm 95, a praise and thanksgiving psalm!
The people thank God for being the rock of their salvation, a great God and high King. My favorite image here is God as our Shepherd. He calls us the โ€œpeople of his pasture, the sheep of his hand.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘ He is a faithful shepherd who keeps His eye on us, provides food for us, and hears our cries even in the wilderness place. What a comfort!
I hope you will take a little time today to listen and read Psalm 95. Join me in thanksgiving and also heed this warning in v. 8-11 not to repeat the past!
๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸพHow has God been faithful to you in the past? Letโ€™s not forget who He is and what He has done in our lives!
